June 7 2010

Another great Memorial Day dance a few weeks ago; many thanks to all who took part.

For the first time that I'm aware of, we sold out the 400 DawnDance tickets before 8pm: 275 online tickets, 25 maple leaf tickets, about 60 during the afternoon English dance, and the remaining 40 between 7:30pm and 7:50pm. Whew!

Online tickets for the Sep 5 Labor Day are now available - get 'em while you can, eh?

- Jim M

Feb 3 2010

A PDF of the poster for this year's dances is now online for your printing pleasure.

The ticket and ticketFAQ pages have been changed to reflect the fact that we are no longer accepting ticket reservations by US mail.

Lots of changes :

  • The bands for this year's dances are up. Looks like another great lineup - kudos to Mary Lea. Please do let me know if I've made typos or anything needs correcting.

  • Due to a computer reconfiguration, the site hasn't really been working for several weeks. Now we're back up, and in a new home (linode.com), after many years of using Marlboro College's servers.

  • Online ticket sales for the Memorial Day dance have been turned on. (Because of problems with people buying tickets for the wrong dance, we've decided to sell tickets for one dance at a time. Labor Day tickets will therefore not be available until after the Memorial Day dance.)

  • I've added an "About" page to the site, describing briefly what's what for people who land here without alreadying knowing what we're about.

The Memorial Day dance was a few nights ago. Simply amazing. Thanks to all who took part; you guys rock.

We had more people come than I've seen in some time; we were dance sold out by about 9pm.

I'm putting up some photos courtesy of Roger Katz (Thanks Roger!) from an album of his on facebook.

Jan 30 2009

The 2009 dance detailes are now up (all but the English caller on Memorial Day) and online ticket sales are turned on. Looks like another great lineup. (Kudos to Mary Lea.)

Feb 16 2007

Online ticket sales for this year's dances are now working.

Feb 13 2007

The 2007 bands and callers have been updated, and this year's poster is available in .pdf again. Kudos to Peter Amidon for making the poster, and to Mary Lea for arranging the lineup.

Online ticket sales should be up soon.

Feb 15 2006

Online ticket sales for the 2006 dances are now turned on, and this year's poster is available in .pdf format, again thanks to Peter Amidon.

The links to the state parks on the accomoddations page are now correct; thanks to Paul Norman for pointing out the broken ones.

Feb 3 2006

The bands and ticket prices for 2006 are up.

We raised prices a bit this year - the first time in several years - because our expenses have been going up. After expenses, ticket money is divided among the performers; the committee doesn't make a profit.

Online ticket sales are not yet available, but should be within a week or two.

October 31, 2005

I've put up a few photos and movies from the last Labor Day dance on the Photo Album page, all taken with my FinePix F10.

See you next year,

Jim M.

Our server has been replaced. The website was down for a few days during the transition, but should be back to normal at this point.

Feb 13, 2005

The callers and bands for the 2005 Memorial Day and Labor Day dances are now posted, and online ticket sales are turned on.

September 7, 2004

Last weekend's Labor Day dance seld out at about 9pm, which is the first time that's happened in several years. Everyone who waited for others to leave got in to dance by 11pm or so.

Thanks to all who came; it was a great time.

June 2, 2004

The recent Memorial Day dance was a blast. We came within a few dozen people of selling out, but luckily didn't have to turn anyone away at the door.

Labor Day dances are often a bit more crowded. With a band lineup of Wild Aspargus, Airdance, and Atlantic Crossing, I'm guessing there's a pretty good chance that the next dance on Sep 5 2004 may sell out.

Ticket FAQ and Volunteering pages have been updated. "FAQ" and "Online" links have been added under "Tickets" in the menu at the left.

The website's been down for the last week or so due to a domain name problem. Sorry for the inconvience.

Feb 26, 2004

Online ticket sales are now turned on.

Feb 5, 2004

The lineup for the 2004 dances is now available. I'll try to have the online ticket sales up and running within the next week or so.

Feb 13, 2003

The lineup for the 2003 dances is now available, and I've turned on the online ticket sales.

We've changed the times for the English dance a bit; this year they'll start at 2:30pm and finish at 5:30pm.

Looks like another amazing set of bands.

See you on the dance floor,

    - Jim Mahoney

August 19, 2002

The Labor Day dance is just a few weeks away. We still have plenty of tickets. I would expect (but cannot promise) that getting tickets at the door won't be a problem.

June 9, 2002
