BRATTLEBORO
DAWN DANCES

Volunteering

Give back to your dance
!

The Brattleboro Dawn Dance is run entirely by volunteers. We welcome your help to make it possible.

Typical Jobs

Set Up and Take Down
Before and after the dance people are needed to move equipment and what-not, at noon Sunday afternoon and 7am Monday morning.

Shoe Police
Shoe police check dancer's shoes to insure they are free from dirt and grit. This is important to make sure we don't damage the floor, and to keep the dust down so it is a more pleasant atmosphere to dance in. We also need to make certain that everyone remembers to have clean soft sole shoes. You will be supplied with an official shoe police T-shirt, an official shoe brush and some official bamboo skewers to clean the shoes with. Official attitude is not necessary. You'll keep watch on shoes, reminding people prior to entering the hall to change shoes or clean them when necessary.
Two one hour shoe police shifts will get your admission reimbursed.

Floor Sweeping
Like Shoe Police, Floor Sweepers help minimize damage to the floor and keep the dust down. Though the shifts appear long, you won't miss any dancing if you pick this one. Sweeping is done at every break and band change. You will have a partner to work with, each supplied with an Official Dawn Dance dust mop. The idea is to go back and forth across the entire hall, until the entire floor is covered. The dancers will helpfully get out of the way, prompted by your encouragement.
You'll be on duty either from 7:30 pm to 1:30 am or from 1:30 am until dawn. We will reimburse your admission at the end of your shift.

Expectations

We ask that you take your commitment seriously. 'No shows' create stress and organizational problems. Please be on time for volunteer shifts.

As you volunteer, you represent the Dawn Dance to others. You should convey a spirit of welcome and graciousness.

To sign up or for more information, please email ddvolunteering@gmail.org.

Volunteer positions fill early, often ahead of the dance. Sign up now to avoid disappointment.
